I used to make pie crust using Graham Crackers as the recipes for pie crust seem too complicated for me. I made different types of cookies few weeks ago and as I tasted them I liked my shortbread cookies and thought I could use it to make my pie crust.  At the same moment I ran out of Graham Cracker I buy and the grocery store didn’t have that brand either. It is a brand that costs less than $1 a box. I decided to make my pie crust trying my own recipe. I loved this crust I made. My husband still prefers my Graham Cracker pie crust better. I don’t think I would go back to Graham Cracker pie crust again. At least it is not the only one I can make now. I have more options.

Homemade Pie Crust

2 1/2 cups Unbleached Wheat Flour

⅓ cup sugar

Pinch of Salt

2 Sticks (1 cup) Butter softened

Direction

Preheat the oven at 350 degree F.

Set the sticks of butter on the stove.

The heat from the oven underneath would soften them.

Set a baking pan 13’’ * 9’’ aside.

In a mixing bowl, add the flour, salt, and sugar.

Stir to mix.

Rub the baking dish with the butter  to coat inside and add the butter to the flour.

By hands, break the butter into the flour and mix well.

The mixture would be crumbly.

Mix for about 2 minutes or until you can press a handful of dough into a ball when pressing in your hand.

Transfer the crumbly dough to the baking dish.

Spread evenly and press down with the palm of your hand. Use your fits to press firm.

Bake at 350 degree F for 25-30 min.

Remove from the oven and set aside.
