Avoid Buying these grocery supplies (paper towel, antibacterial wipes, body lotion, tissues) if you want to build your emergency grocery supply on budget. Turn baby onesies, old t-shirt bed sheet, and old t-shirt into rags, hand wipes and reusable tissues. Use extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil as body oil and cooking oil.
Do what is necessary to provide for your family. If you have to stay home to avoid Corona virus, make sure you have enough food staples for your family.
If you don’t have money to shop, use your credit card if you have to and pay it back when you get paid.
- Write your grocery list. List what you need and eat on a regular basis.
- There are few grocery staples that should not be a part of your grocery list if you are on low budget. Or if the grocery stores are out of, you should not worry about. You can switch to alternative products.
Avoid Buying these Grocery Supplies:
- Don’t spend on things you won’t use.
- Don’t buy paper towel. You can cut old t-shirt into rags. I cut my baby onesies into rags for our bathroom hand wipes. Make sure they are 100 % cotton.
- Don’t buy antibacterial wipes. Spend on soap and rubbing alcohol. Alcohol kills 99% germs but doesn’t clean your hands. Soap doesn’t kill germs but get rid of them. Wash you hands more often and when not able to, use alcohol to disinfect your hands. Wash your hands as soon as you can. If stores are out of rubbing alcohol, any drinking alcohol could work as well. Keep in mind that rubbing alcohol containing propylene contains VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) that can pollute indoor air.
- Don’t buy body lotion. Oil your skin with cooking oil like olive oil.
- Don’t buy tissues or if the store is out of tissues that is fine. Cut old t-shirt 12’’*12’’ to wipe nose. Once you have a grocery bag full of it, wash them in hot water. If you have old bed sheet especially the t-shirt fabric bed sheet can be used to make these reusable wipes. If you have a lot of toilet paper in stock, you can use them to wipe nose as well.
