In average you can hold a swing trade for 3 days or after you reach a minimum profit set in advance.
When you plan to purchase a stock for swing trading, you can look at the trend line you are about to purchase the stock at to see how many green bars the stock displays between pull backs.
That allows you to estimate a holding time for that stock.
Green bars are days the stock price at the market close was higher than the price of that stock when the stock market opens.
I don’t try to realize a maximum gain. I like to purchase stocks at their 1st green bar after a pull back and sell after 3 green bar days or after we reached the minimum profit target we set.
We swing trade by purchasing a stock on the uptrend and sell on the uptrend.
We swing trade using daily charts and every price bar is a daily activity for the stock the chart is for.
