How to analyze stocks for swing trading using maximum monthly chart trends v172

How to read trend lines for stock entries-Swing trading daily chart analysis

You begin your analysis with the maximum monthly chart, not to trade directly from it, but to trace long-term support lines and confirm that a stock is in an uptrend. You look for valley lines also referred to assupport lines that pass through the bottom of price “mountains” and identify which ones the price has historically touched before making new highs. You ask yourself which support line has the most connection points and which one the price tends to return to before climbing again.

Once you’ve traced those lines, you switch to the maximum daily chart for actual trading decisions. You adjust the lines if needed and compare the current price (after market close) to your desired entry point. If the price is far from your support line, you wait and move on to the next stock.

For stocks you already own, like URI, you focus on exit strategies. You analyze the chart and compare where the current price is to where you want to exit the trade or sell. You use two main strategies to decide when to exit:

  1. Time-based strategy: You look at how long the previous uptrend lasted (e.g., from July 2023 to November 2024) and estimate a similar time frame for the current trend. You might choose to stay in the trade for half or two-thirds of that time after the first new high.
  2. Price-based strategy: You calculate the ratio between the price at the valley line and the peak (e.g., 2.7×). Then you apply that ratio to the current valley price to estimate a target exit price.

You repeat this process for other stocks like VISA and WAB. If the price isn’t near your preferred support line, you wait. You also look for higher lows forming after a pullback to confirm an uptrend before buying.

In summary, you use the monthly chart to trace support lines and confirm trends, and the daily chart to make entry and exit decisions based on price behavior and timing. You rely on visual patterns, historical price movements, and strategic ratios to guide your swing trades.
