Fresh Leaves of a Medicinal Herb  or Cooking Herb

Our Store

Direction

Harvest fresh leaves in the morning after the drew evaporated.

Harvest clean leaves and no need to rinse them.

Hold few leaves together and tie the stems with a string.

Hook each string on a cloth hanger and hang in the basement, garage, outside in the shade or a ventilated area. I generally dry my leaves in the basement. Dry the leaves with the stems up.

Let it dry until the leaves are fully dry. It could take weeks.

After that, store the leaves whole in jars or zip bags. I like to store my leaves in gallon zip bags as I can store more per bag without bruising the leaves.

Leaves without stems, can be laid flat on wire to dry. I kept oven wires from my previous oven and dry herbs with short stems on them. I put the wire on a plastic tote’s lid to allow air to circulate.

Keep the leaves whole as much as possible until they are ready to be used.

The dry leaves can be used as tea, infused in oil, or used in cooking.
