When you purchase merchandise for resale, enter them in your merchandise inventory spreadsheet in the column of purchases during the year.
Purchased merchandise inventory allows you to record:
The date of the purchase
The name of the product
The quantity purchased
The unit price
The total cost
Merchandise journal entry for a resale business
Record the date
The name of the product
Record the cost of your goods
If you used your business credit card for the purchase, record the cost in your account payable on credit card spreadsheet.
If you use debit card, record the transaction on your one journal entry spreadsheet where your record bank transactions.
